Sheriff
I think there will simply be a name change in the country to reflect changing population demographics, something like:
Los Estados Norte Mexicanos

Let's just split up into 50 small countries so each candidate can have their own.

Now Trav- let's say the good people of California, by majority, vote to secede. What's your take?

Let those left coast loonies go. I would even open a bottle scotch and give them a toast.
But actually I think it will be the center of the country and the south that tells the left cost the northeast to take a hike.

Just think California leaves the union and opens its boarders to the south. Solves our immigration problem.

I don't get the cartoon - is California threatening to move their primary up to the end of this year? And what does that have to do with secession?

Lan,
California is looking to move their primary earlier. The issue is that California is so big that if it goes first it would pretty much determine who would be the nominees. There would be no time for a number of candidates to build momentum. It would also severely slant the selection process towards liberal and Hispanic candidates.
As far as secession, this would further separate elected officials from small town America. Eventually Davenport will get tired of having LA tell it what to do.

I see - well I agree it would be bad for California to be the first primary, but disagree that would tend to promote liberal & Hispanic candidates - they had Reagan & Schwartzenegger as Governors. Secession is one heck of a stretch...
Why would Davenport get tired of Louisiana telling it what to do?
